CHILDREN’S PARTY

RETURNED SOLDIERS’ ASSN. An enjoyable children’s Christmas party, organised by members of the Hamilton branch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association, was held in the Alexandra Hall on Saturday afternoon, when there was a large attendance of parents and children. Canopies of gold and green streamers were arranged about the hall and a large Christmas tree oc-

cupied pride of place at the top of the hall. Gifts and party novelties were distributed to the children and a very happy spirit prevailed throughout the afternoon. Games and competitions, in the capable hands of Mrs B. Roberts, were thoroughly enjoyed by the children and an interesting programme by Mrs Pratt and her dog, Bonzo, and dances by Miss Shirley W’atson were presented. Mrs S. \\. Tallis was the pianist. A delicious afternoon tea was served by members of the ladies’ committee, which was as follows:—Mesdames D. I. Gate, J. Vokes, A. Fawcett, J. Rennie, A. Rowe (Whatawhata), A. L. Fow, V. Crowhurst, S.
