DIOCESAN SCHOOL FUNCTION | PROCEEDS TO CAMP COMFORTS j Notwithstanding the rather threat- j ening attitude of the weather on Saturday afternoon, the garden fete 1 of the Waikato Diocesan School, the proceeds of which were this year donated to the Military Affairs Com- ! mittee for camp comforts for the troops, was well attended. The lovely grounds of the school made an ideal setting for the various : stalls, which were most attractively arranged with a large variety of enticing articles. The stall-holders were as follows:—-“Scott,” in charge of Miss J. Adams and Miss A. Bowden; “Ross.” Miss E. Hadfield, Miss N. Alio way and Miss H. Halliday; “Shackleton,” Miss Z. Robins, Miss ! R. Haig and Mrs F. Robinson; Old j Girls, Mrs Uloth Johnstone, and j Misses Edna and Muriel House, ! Betty Clark, Elise Bullock, Mary Speight, Del Yule, Dorothy Mears, ' and Bid Farrer; strawberry stad, Misses E. Miller, Joan Brunskill and J N. Peterson. The afternoon tea • which was served in the charming • flower-bedecked assembly hall, was •. in the capable hands of Mrs S. E. ! Piper and Miss N. Goldney, assisted I by Mrs J. Thompson. During the afternoon the following j delightful programme was con- ! tributed by the children:—Mass carol j singing; dance, “Little Boys and i Girls”; health dancing; duo, by L. ( Regan and F. Trcvena; Spanish Jota, j by Barbara Pountney; pirate dance; ; drill display; babies’ ballet and j Pandora’s Box in which the soloists j were Pan, Barbara Fea; Trouble, I Barbara Graham; Pandora, Barbara i Pountney; Epimetheus, Betty Larner; : Hope, Justine Lundon.
