ENGAGEMENTS
RATCLIFFE—BAKER Mr and Mrs Baker, of Frankton, announce the engagement of their elder daughter, Joyce Gladys, to Keith, second son of Mr and Mrs T. H. Ratcliffe, Frankton. DILLON—CLARKIN The engagement is announced between Robert Arthur, third son of Captain and Mrs D. Dillon, of Roto-o-rangi, Cambridge, and Eva Margaret, only daughter of Mr and Mrs P. H. Clarkin, “Te Avon,” Eureka.
TE AWAMUTU Mrs Elsie Scarfe has left for Auckland, where she will spend several days and then continue her journey to Wellington. Miss Bowler has left for her home in Taihape, where she will spend Christmas before leaving for the Centennial Exhibition. Mrs A. Woods is leaving shortly to spend the Christmas vacation in Auckland. Mrs H. C. Rainey has her mother, Mrs Rout, Auckland, staying with her for the Christmas vacation. Mrs Fama, senr., Wellington, who has been spending several months with her daughter, Mrs Jack McGovern, intends returning to her home early in the New Year. Miss Dorothy Moir intends spending the Christmas holidays in Auckland and then continuing to Waihi Beach. Miss Murray has left for Wellington to visit the Centennial Exhibition and then intends to proceed to Dargaville, North Auckland, for the Christmas holiday. Mrs L. J. Smith intends spending part of the holidays in Rotorua. Mrs Kirkham, Tokanui Crossroads, leaves on Boxing Day for Kawhia, where she has taken a cottage for four weeks.
Mrs A. J. Tailby will leave for Waiheke Island this week.
Mrs Clough Blundell is visiting Auckland for the races on Boxing Day and then proceeds to the Mount, Tauranga. Miss D. Pedersen left last night for Wellington to visit the Centennial Exhibition. • * * * Miss Bonner, of the staff of the High School, leaves early in the New Year for Christchurch. She intends doing several weeks’ tramping and mountaineering in the Southern Alps.
Miss Strathdie left last night for Wellington en route to Christchurch to spend Christmas with her parents. Miss Joan Rhodes, Pukeatua, left recently for Auckland, where she will spend several weeks.
Mrs Duval, of St. Helier’s Bay, visited Mrs Clough Blundell for the races.
Miss Joyce Downey intends spending Christmas at Opotiki and then continuing her holiday in Gisborne and Napier.
Miss A. Watson has left for her home in Putaruru.
