WILTON COLLIERIES

PROGRESS OF THE COMPANY The progress Wilton Collieries (1934), Limited, has made since the reorganisation five years ago was stressed by the chairman of directors, Mr Hendry Luke, when addressing shareholders at the annual meeting yesterday. Mr Luke mentioned that when the company commenced in 1934 large sums were owing, including about £23,000 to the bank and £7OOO to debenture-holders, as well as other smaller amounts. These debts had been liquidated and, in addition to having paid small dividends in the meantime, the company had a credit of just over £9700. The company was providing for the future by opening up new areas. The retiring directors, Messrs H. Isherwood and J. Fletcher, were reelected.
