TREACHEROUS CORNER

DANGER OF ACCIDENTS COMPLAINTS IN COUNTY Almost daily, complaints reach the Waikato County engineer, Mr A. A. Woodward, regarding the dangerous nature of the sharp bend on Crosby’s Road, Gordonton, which has been the scene of many narrow escapes from serious accidents. Consideration to the danger of the road was given by the Waikato County Council yesterday. Mr R. G. Young said the council would have to face up to the matter of eliminating such a grave danger. The council decided to instruct the engineer to prepare plans and estimates for .eliminating the bend. The engineer said the cost of cutting a deviation would be extensive. It was the worst comer in the entire area under the control of the Waikato County Council. Mr Young stated that the road was becoming a main route for Gordonton residents since the opening of the new Fairfield Bridge over the Waikato River. “It is a wonder someone has not been killed there,” he said.
