MORRINSVILLE PROTESTS RETAILERS DISCUSS ACTION (Special to Times) MORRINSVILLE, Thursday A representative meeting of Morrinsville retailers was held in the Municipal Chambers last night to discuss the effect the import restrictions were having and would have oh retail businesses. Representatives from the Hamilton Retailers’ Association were present, and outlined the action they had taken and also proposed taking, to make the Government realise the seriousness of the position. Various speakers stressed the fact that the import licenses granted would make it impossible to carry on with the present overhead expenses, and that many employees would be dismissed. A committee was elected to co-operate with the Hamilton Retailers’ Association to decide on a course of action. TE AWAMUTU INTERESTS (Special to Times) TE AWAMUTU, Friday At the instance of the Te Awamutu Retailers’ Holiday Committee a meeting is to be held in the Town HalJ on Monday at 8 p.m., when a delegation from the Hamilton Retailers’ Association will submit suggestions for the best procedure to alleviate the disastrous effects of the import restrictions. The meeting will be asked to consider the formation of a retailers’ association in lieu of the existing holiday committee, which has functioned for some time.
