MISHAP TO YACHT
CAPSIZE IN HARBOUR FIVE OCCUPANTS RESCUED (Special to Times.) GISBORNE, Thursday Five young men were thrown into a choppy north-westerly sea in the Gisborne Harbour when the centreboard of their 14ft. yacht was smashed and the vessel capsized. They were rescued 20 minutes later by Mr Arthur Hart, who pulled out to their assistance in a flat-bottomed boat. Those in the yacht were Messrs John Huchin, Patrick Edwards, John Prendergast, Patrick Barry and William Murphy. Although the crew suffered from the effects of exposure and the cold water, they were little the worse for the experience. Four of the crew clung to the upturned vessel and the fifth made an attempt to swim ashore for assistance. However, he was exhausted in the choppy sea and was picked up by the rescue boat.
