SPECIAL FRANKTON SALE Messrs. G. W. Vercoe & Co., Ltd., report having held a special store cattle sale at Frankton on Wednesday, when the advertised entry came forward. Competition throughout was only fair and prices showed a decided decline on those which have been ruling for the past few weeks. Nevertheless, practically a total clearance was effected. The advertised line of yearling Red Polled steers on account or Messrs. T. C. and 11. W. Wilson, of Waimai, were showing the effects of a hard winter, and prices for these were not high, 100 realising £3 12s, while 51 averaged £2 10s. Quotations. —Forward-conditioned three-year-old Polled Angus and Hereford steers, to £7 15s; store-conditipned three-year-old cross-bred steers, £5 15s to £0 12s Gd; store-conditioned two-year-old Polled Angus steers, £G to £6 45,• low-condi-tioned, £5 to £5 15s; store-cohditioned two-year-old Hereford steers, to £6; 18months Hereford and Polled Angus steers, to £5; cross-bred two-year-old steers, £4 to £1 15s; yearling Polled Angus steers, to £3 10s; yearling cross-bred heifers, to £2 2s 6d; yearling Jersey heifers, to £4 15s; young store cows, to £3 18s. MATAMATA SALE The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report that at their Matamata stock sale on Wednesday a good entry or rat sheep came forward and changed hands at recent levels. Cattle.—A rull penning, the beer entry comprising ox and heiTer beef, which sold under spirited bidding, values showing little alteration on late quotations, which were also maintained for boner cows and potter bulls. pigs.—A very large entry of all classes of pigs with competition for baconers and porkers keen at values fully up to late rates. Bidding in the store section was not as brisk as at previous sales, and prices for slips and weaners were slightly easier. A large entry of choppers sold fully up to recent quotations. Quotations: — Sheep.—Prime shorn hoggets, 24s to 265; woolly hoggets, 23s 3d to 24s 6d; light, 19s to 2 is; rat shorn ewes, 12s 6d to 14s; shorn black-faced hoggets, 15s 3d to 10s Gd.
