ONIONS SCARCE

HAMILTON MARKETS FRUIT IN KEEN DEMAND FIRST GOOSEBERRIES AT 8d Onions were practically unprocurable on the Hamilton wholesale market and the small supplies that were to hand sold at higher prices. Other vegetables were in heavy demand with prices good owing to a steady demand. Cauliflowers sold well but cabbages were cheaper. Lettuce prices eased slightly. The demand for fruit was again keen, red apples bringing particularly high prices. Ripe pears were also keenly sought.
