MOTORISTS’ ESCAPE
BULLET PIERCES WINDSCREEN POLICE INVESTIGATION (Special to Tlmei) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday While a motor-car was being driven along a street in Sumner at 9.30 last night, a bullet pierced the windscreen just over the driver's head and fell between two women passengers in the back seat. No one in tbe car was hurt. Tbe driver was Mr Clifford H. BarrelL It was dark when the shot was fired. From the direction of the .12 bullet it seemed to those in the car that it might have been fired at tbe approaching headlights. An unsuccessful search was made by Mr Barren and his party lor the possible ftrer of the shot, and the matter was immediately reported to tbe police at Sumner. In tbe windscreen of the ear, near the top of the windshield wiper, is a small hole, surrounded by a small patch of starred glass and a slight crack. The bullet was discovered after a search of the back seat, and was handed over to the police.
