CORDED TAFFETA GOWN A charming wedding was solemnised in the Presbyterian Church, Matamata, on Saturday evening, October 21, when Violet Hazel, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Summerville, of Waharoa Road, Matamata, was married to William, second son of Mr and Mrs J. Carroll, ot Wardville. The Rev. J. H. Combes officiated at the ceremony, and Miss Nessie Pennell presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a graceful gown of cream corded taffeta embossed with silver and cut un classical lines. The front panel, from a square neckline to the waist, was embroidered in cyclamen tonings, and the train and hemline were finished in pointed scallops. A finger-length veil, arranged from a heart-shaped headdress, embroidered to match the gown, was worn over the face, and was finished with a spray of orange blossom. The bride carried an ivory prayer book, to which was attached a spray of lily-of-the-valley. The Attendants In attendance as matrons-of-honour were Mrs F. McNamara, of Auckland, sister of the bride, and Mrs J. Swap, of Te Poi, Matamata. Their gowns were of pale-cyclamen tinsel brocade, the trains being trimmed with taffeta bands of deeper cyclamen. Small pointed caps, trimmed with velvet flowers in the deeper tonings, composed the headdresses, and sheaves of darkcyclamen tulips arranged with maidenhair fern were carried. Mr Pat Munro, of Waharoa, carried out the duties of best man, and Mr E. Carroll, of Auckland, brother of the bridegroom, was the groomsman. The ushers were Mr J. Swap, of Te Poi, and Mr A. Johns. Following the ceremony a reception was held in Loveridge’s Tearooms, where Mrs R. Summerville, assisted by Mrs J. Carroll, received the guests. Mrs Summerville wore a charming ensemble of black georgette and lace, with a matching hat and accessories. Her bouquet was of pansies in tangerine shades, ranuncula and maidenhair fern. Mrs I Carroll was wearing a gown of black * georgette, with a black Bangkok hat jand a musquash fur cape. Her { bouquet was of scarlet anemones and 'maidenhair fern. i When the bride and bridegroom left on their wedding trip, the bride travelled in a teal light-weight coat worn over a toning frock, with a hat to tone and a fur stole.
