WEDDING

MORRIS—CLIFFORD EMBOSSED SATIN GOWN The wedding took place on the afternoon of October 28 at the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, Hamilton, of Rachael Madeline, third daughter of Mr and Mrs C. H. Clifford, of Naylor Street, Hamilton East, and Alfred Edward, eldest son of Mr and Mrs L. O. Morris, of Amaru Road, Onehunga. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Hayes. The bride, who was given away by her father, was wearing a charming gown of embossed satin and an ivory net veil embroidered in truelovers’ knots and horseshoes. She carried a sheaf of arum lilies. In attendance on the bride was Miss Freda Morris, sister of the bridegroom, as bridesmaid, and Patricia Battison, niece of the bride, and Shirley Morris, sister of the bridegroom, were flower-girls. Little Ron Battison was train-bearer. Miss Morris was dressed in a becoming gown of pink lace over taffeta, and the flowergirls were in blue and lemon taffeta respectively. The train-bearer was wearing a cream satin suit. Bouquets to tone with the frocks were carried. Mr Roy Sarsfield was best man. The Reception Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, where the rooms were artistically decorated to blend with the frocks of the bridal party. Mrs Clifford received the guests in a frock of blue and red figured flat crepe, a black georgette coat, and a black Bangkok hat and her posy was composed of red roses. The mother oi the bridegroom was in a figured georgette frock, a teal coat and hat and furs. She carried a posy of red roses.

When Mr and Mrs Morris left for the honeymoon, the bride travelled in a printed silk frock, a black coat and black accessories.

Among the guests were:—Mrs G. Couch (Onehunga), grandmother of the bridegroom, Mrs Trevor Carr (Keripeehi), Mrs Percy Battison (Tokoroa), Miss Emma Morris, Mrs J. Moyle (Huntly), Mrs Young (Hikurangi), Messrs Jack Clifford, Lloyd Clifford, Trevor Carr, Percy Battison.
