FIGURES DOUBLED IN SOUTH (By Telegraph.—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday Marriage licences issued in Christchurch during September more than doubled the total for the corresponding month last year. This year the number was 243 and the total for September, 1938, was 106. Marriages by registrar this month totalled 44, compared with 28 foi the period last year. A substantial increase is also shown in births compared with last year, the totals being 249 and 193. There were 133 deaths during the month, compared with 194 last year. AUCKLAND RETURNS 420 MARRIED THIS MONTH (Special to Times) AUCKLAND, Friday In Auckland 420 marriage licences were issued during September, an increase of 158 on last year’s figure for the same month. Last Wednesday the registrar married 10 couples.
