NO PEAGE NEGOTIATIONS EMPHATIC DENIAL STATEMENT BY SOVIET (United Press Assn.—Elec. TeL Copyright) (Received Sept. 25, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 23 The Chungking correspondent of the New York Times says the Soviet Embassy spokesman emphatically denied that negotiations for peace between China and Japan were proceeding at Chungking with the Soviet as mediator or that the Soviet Ambassador was visiting Shanghai to discuss prospects of a settlement. The Chinese appear confident, however, that whatever plans Germany and Russia have in the Far East they will not be disadvantageous to China. The area contains a variety of minerals apart from gold.
