TRAFFIC BREACHES
LARGE CAMBRIDGE LIST (Special to Time** CAMBRIDGE, Wednesday As the result of a traffic drive by district inspectors in 'Cambridge on July 31, a number of motorists appeared in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, before Mr W. 11. Freeman, S.M., charged with breaches of the traffic regulations. Inspector F. Cook prosecuted. Basil Lewis John Kingston was fined 10s for driving a motor-cycle without a licence and 5s for having no warrant of fitness. Dennis George Kelly was fined 10s for driving without a licence and Tuck and Watkins Ltd., the same amount for operating a trailer without a warrant of fitness. On charges laid by Inspector B. Muggeridge, fines of 5s were imposed on Frank Hawkin Baker, Charles Edward Hall, Henry Leslie Jones and Alfred Scott for having no warrants of fitness for motor vehicles operated by them. N . Inspector C. D. Treadgold proceeded against Eric T. Calvert, for driving without licenses, and without warrants of fitness. Fines of 10s and 5s were imposed. Lynn B. McKenzie was fined £1 for not having an efficient tail lamp, and £1 because his rear number plate was obscured. For exceeding the maximum speed of 25 miles an hour Robert Alfred Cateley was fined £l. Patrick George Thrupp was also fined £1 for exceeding 3CF miles per hour on the Hamilton Road. Because he operated a vehicle without a warrant of fitness John Henry Christini was fined ss. Lloyd George Tuck was fined 10s for driving without a license. Three Charges Brought
Three charges were preferred by Inspector Treadgold against Kenneth Brandigan, who had no driver’s license, no warrant of fitness, and no proper reflectors on his vehicle. Fines amounting t-o 30s were imposed. Harry Wood was charged with operating a carrying service that did not comply with the provisions of his license. He was fined 10s. For driving a metal truck on the •Hamilton Road at an excessive speed, Walter George Kelly was convicted and ordered to pay costs. Mr S.. Lewis, who appeared for Kelly, stated that defendant had no previous convictions and had since given up lorry driving. The magistrate rcmaVked that he could not help feeling that many drivers were being forced these days to drive at excessive speeds to get in the number of trips a day required by their employers.
Ernest Plaw was fined 5s for having no warrant of fitness for a vehicle.
