SPRING MEETING OPENS BISQUIT WINS HURDLES FOXMOND WINB HENDERSON CUP TO THE CARDINAL (Special from “Martian”) AUCKLAND, Saturday The first day of the Avondale Jockey Club's Spring meeting was held today in fine but overcast weather. Gadger was finishing on and bis performance indicated early retribution, while that of Tutor, who had been working well at Takanlnl in recent weeks, endorsed the good Impression he had made. Kittle, who looked likely halfway down the running, Tailed to go on with it. Tea Chat and Bisquit were the leaders ovrr the first fence, Bisquit taking the initiative passing the stand from Tea Chat, Tane Mahotu, Wild Acre, Tutor. Kittle, Herewith and Royal Dance, with Mia Acrea bringing up tbe rear. Along the back Bisquit was followed by Tea Chat, and though Wild Acre headed him five furlongs from home, Bisquit had taken the lead again approaching the turn, to be followed Into the straight by Wild Acre, Tutor and Kittle, with a gap to Gadger and a rurther Interval to Herewith. Kittle made a strong bid halfway down the running, but faded and Bisquit hung on to win by two and a-balf lengths from Gadger, who finished resolutely to beat Tutor by a length. The Dozer, Crestman and Lady Bambury moved through smartly at the half-mile and were in charge here from Glen Connell, Hunto, Tellsom and Proud Fox. At the turn Lady Bambury was showing out from Glen Connell and Ilunto, with Proud Fox and Tcllsom in that order.
