DOUBLE FATALITY

MOTOR CYCLISTS KILLED SMASH WITH STATIONARY TRUCK AUCKLAND, Monday Mr Peter William Scott, aged 28, of Glen Eden, and Mr Phillip Henry Double, aged 21, of Avondale, were killed instantaneously last niight when a motor-cycle the former was riding, Mr Double being a pillion passenger, struck a stationary truck near the gates of the Waikumete Cemetery. Mr Arthur Woodbrldge, the driver of the truck, in the cab of which were his wife and two children, ran short of petrol. The motor-cycle crashed into the truck, and when Mr Woodbridge investigated he found the two young men dead and their machine Jammed against the rear axle of the truck. BARRISTER KILLED OAR HITS STEAM SHOVEL (Special to Times) WELLINGTON, Sunday Mr John Campbell Peacock, a wellknown barrister and solicitor, was fatally injured when his car collided with a steam shovel belonging to the Public Works Department, the footboard of which, about five feet from the ground, broke through the windscreen. Mr Peacock was struck on the head and died later. The other occupants of the car were not injured.
