SULLIVAN WELL WATCHED (By Telegraph.—Press Association) WANGANUI, Monday Wanganui and Taranaki drew, 9 —9, in a representative match played today. in the early stages Taranaki did most of the attacking, but Wanganui’s defence was solid. P. Toro opened the scoring with a fine field goal, giving Taranaki a lead, 4 —o. Wanganui were giving weight away in the forwards, and Taranaki took a good deal of holding at times. Taranaki still lead 4—o at half time. Opening the second half, K. Welsh, Hie Wanganui fullback, made a great run of 50 yards, which almost ended in a try. Taranaki swept play to the Wanganui line, where Brown scored, for Meuli to convert. The Wanganui forwards showed dash, and the ball was sent to the backs. McPike cut through fast to send Barton across for a try. Later McPike made another opening which resulted in Glenn scoring, and the game ended 9—9. The All Black, J. L. Sullivan, was well watched, and was never allowed to get far. E. V. Beiliss played a fine game in the Wanganui forwards. G. Fowler was the best Taranaki forward. J. Morgan replaced E. Dickie in the Wanganui team; this being the only alteration to the teams.
