BOUT STOPPED
. AVIS BEATS MORTON <By Telegraph—Press Association) GISBORNE, Monday Jack Davis, Hastings, beat Mayne Morton, Wellington, in a scheduled 10round professional boxing contest. The referee stopped the fight in the eighth round after Morton had been down four times. Davis carried the fight to his opponent all through, and Morton responded well but, made little use of his advantages in height and reach.
