FIRE IN NAPIER HARBOUR DANGER FROM BENZINE (By Telegraph— Press Association) NAPIER, Friday The trawler Rex foundered in the Iron Pot at an early ho*r this morning when a fire resulted from a backfire of the engine when the vessel was preparing for sea. Fifty-two gallons of benzine on board constituted a possible source of danger to the firemen, who played hoses from the wharf into the vessel’s Interior, which is believed to have been gutted. The damage has not yet been estimated. At the present time tbe vessel is lying on the seabed.
