RED CROSS SOCIETY ELECTION OF OFFICERS (Special to Times) MORRINSVILLE, Wednesday. A Morrinsville branch of the New Zealand Red Cross Society was formed at a meeting convened by the Mayor of Morinsville, Mr W. Iletherington, and held in the municipal chambers this week. An outline of the work of the society in New Zealand was given by the director-general, Mr I. J. Bridge rOfficers were elected as follows: President, the Mayor, Mr W. Hetherington; vice-presidents. NATIONAL PARTY MX NGATEPARU 0 FFIC EHS The Mangateparu branch of the National Party at its annual meeting elected the following officers:—President, Mr 11. S. Herbert: secretary, Mr s. H. Wilding; committee, Messrs T. R. Bennett, R. Vickers, E. Pollard, I. Miller, B. J. Roper and S. G. R. Brewis. A welcome was given Mr J. M. Al-
lcn, M.P. for Hauraki, who wa s accompanied by Mr \Y. S- Goosman. M.P. for Waikato, and Colonel J. M 1 largest, M.P. for Awarua. An address was given by Colonel llargest, who contended that the Government had not shown any sympathy for the farmers. He spoke at length on the guaranteed price, and the Government's policy of heavy taxation and increased expenditure on public works. He also stressed the importance of dequatc defence measures.
