OBITUARY
DEATH IN PARIS NOTED NEW ZEALANDER Advice has been received by Mrs W. E. Dive, of Remuera, Auckland, of the death in Paris of her son, Lieut.Colonel Gilbert Henry Dive, of London. He was a New Zealander who had a prominent career both in medicine and the Army. Lieut.-Colonel Dive served with the British Expeditionary Force in Tsinstall in 1914, being mentioned in despatches. From 1914 to 1919 he was with the British Expeditionary Force in France and Belgium. He was mentioned in despatches three times, was awarded the D.S.O. and the Medaille d'honneur des Epidemies, became a Brevet-Major, was mentioned in French .Army orders and won the Croix de Guerre.
MRS MARY PRATT AUCKLAND,, Wednesday Mrs Mary Pratt, of Remuera, died last night in her 99th year. Mrs Pratt, who was believed to be the last of the New Zealand Company’s pioneer settlers who landed at Nelson in 1842, had been a resident of Auckland for 36 years. Until about a month ago she enjoyed remarkably good health.
