LATE MR EBEN WILSON BRONZE PLAQUE EXECUTED (By Telegraph ---Special io Tlm*s> AUCKLAND, Wednesday Commemorating the services of the late Mr Eben Wilson as headmaster of ihe Hamilton High School, a large memorial plaque in bronze has been executed by the Auckland sculptor, Mr Richard O. Gross. At the top of the plaque are the head and shoulders of the late Mr Wilson in bas relief, and beneath is the following inscription:— 1880-37.—Eben Wilson, M.A., Headmaster of this school rrom its inception until bis death—l9l 1 —1937. Steadfast was he and wisely firm, And or kindness that is to greatness kin. And ever niindrul or this school’s fair destiny. These walls and grounds hold much or him. Conventional roses form ft border of the plaque, which is intended for erection in the school assembly hall, and at the base is tlie school motto:— “Sapiens Fortunam Fingit Sibi” (A Wise Man Carves His Own Fortune), and a badge round which are entwined a representation of rosemary.
