ROYAL AIR FORCE
PLANS FOR DEVELOPMENT MEN’S COURAGE AND DARING INCREASE IN RECRUITING (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) LONDON, Feb. 26 The Secretary of State for Air, Sir Kingsley Wood, in a speech described the flight of British bombers to Australia last year as a further stride forward in the plans of the Royal Air Force to develop long-range flying in the interests of British defence. He said the performance was one of the most notable of British enterprises in capturing the world’s long-distance record. Those great qualities of courage and daring were still with the Force and with the recruits, who were of a high quality and who were joining in large numbers. An able authority on air strategy recently observed that up to now the greatest impediment to obtaining full value from Britain’s strategic air routes had been the gap between this country and Egypt. It had been demonstrated how small was the impediment and that it was decreasing rapidly.
