FUNDS FOR “THE NEBT" FUNCTION IN LAKE GROUNDS With a view to raising funds for j the Salvation Army home. “The Nest,” at Melville, a garden party was held ; ie Hamilton Lake grounds on Sat- | urday afternoon. 'Die grounds had been decorated with hunting, and the competitions and stalls attracted a fairly large crowd. Among those present were Commissioner F. 11. Rusi sell, which was responsible for the i organisation. “The Nest” had about 4;> children in it at present, and had cared for 15G children during the last five years. Mu«c was supplied by the Hamilton Citizens' Band and the South Auckland Caledonian Pipe Band and sports for the children were arranged by members of the j'.M.C.A. Ponv rides and other novelties were also held. The stall-holders were as follows: Produce, Mesdames A. Gaston and R. F. Sansoni: afternoon tea. Mrs J. Church and assistants: baby stall. Miss ' Ethel Taylor; sweets, Mrs 11. ransom .and Miss P. ransom; cakes. Mrs R. : (lower: handkerchiefs and dolls. Misses j R. Atkinson and L. James: nest of toys for the children. Lieutenant L. Ra'y- . liss; apron stall. Mrs Morrison; Corps Cadets' stall. Mrs E. Vivian and Hie Corps Cadets; apron lads Mrs A. Bartlett; plain and fancy sewing, Mrs J. t Middleton and Miss J. Cherry.
