ELLERSLIE TRIALS

TE AROHA CANDIDATES MISS APPELLANT IMPRESSIVE GLEN' ABB'S SMART FIVE (By Telegraph—Pres?? Association) AUCKLAND Tuesday Owing to several Ellerslie horses, who raced at Te Rapa, being sent on to Te Aroha for the meeting, which opens there on Saturday, there was not as much work as usual at headquarters this morning. The No. 1 grass track was open for fast work, the best efforts being those of Land Girl over half-a-mile and Miss Appellant and Tooley Street over a round. Chelandry went away from the six furlongs post, increasing the pace over the last half-mile, which she ran in 51 2-ss.

Bonnvbelle was timed to run her last half-mile in 525, doing it well. Fleet-wind got to the end of five furlongs in 1.4 1-5. She was joined by Aero Kins: over the last half-mile, the pair coming home from there in 49 2-ss. Minlaw and Royal Abb reeled off half-a-mile in similar time. Roth worked well and there was little between them.

Glen Abb completed five furlongs in 1.4 3-5, being assisted over the last three furlongs by Rainer in 36 4-ss.

A Smart Round

Miss Appellant finished several lengths clear of Tooley Street over a round In 1.49 2-5. The last six furlongs took 1.17 and the final halfmile 51 4-ss. It was an attractive gallop and Miss Appellant, who had a couple of stone the worst of the weights, impressed by her effort. Mai de Mer, after schooling over hurdles, completed six furlongs In 1.18 1-5 the first three In 395.

Land Girl, having her first gallop since being recommissioned, reeled off half-a-mile in 495, the first furlong being covered in 12 3-ss. It was a smart effort and she finished on well. Mai de Mer (Sinton) gave a pleasing display over two hurdles but when tried again he tilt the first, dislodging his rider. However, he later jumped them well. Electric Spear (Ritchie) and Jolle Dance (Coon) were sent over two | hurdles, giving a satisfactory exhibition. They are to make their first appearance as hurdlers at Te Aroha. Riding engagements for Te Aroha include:— G. Gilchrist.—Rovevrus. Bon Star, Fleetwind, Chelandry and Bronze Moth.
