REVISION IN DOMINION COMMENT IN HASTINGS HASTINGS, Tuesday A reform in the hotel licensing laws of the Dominion with the object not of bringing about an increase in the number of “drinking dens,” but in order that better residential accommodation might be provided in the light of modern requirements for the travelling public, was urged by a meeting of the Hastings Chamber of Commerce last evening. Though members expressed full sympathy with the representations made by the Southland Progress League for a revision of the licensing laws it was considered that the question was one of national policy and should be placed before the Associated Chambers for consideration. However, emphasis was laid on the fact that the meeting was definitely of the opinion that any steps taken should be in the direction of enlisting the co-operation of the leaders of churches and the New Zealand Alliance-
