PAIRS TOURNAMENT
BOWLING AT ROTORUA WAIKATO PLAYERS COMPETE (Special to Times) ROTORUA, Monday A full entry of 35 teams from all parts of the Auckland province is competing in the annual open pairs tournament of the Rotorua Bowling Club which was commenced this morning under ideal conditions. Following the dry weather, the greens were ’ fairly fast. The Waikato teams, which are participating in the tournament, met with a good measure of succe’ss in today’s play and Rowe, Whitiora, was undefeated with three wins and Elliott, Whitiora, undefeated with two wins. Details.—Section A, second round: Elliott (Whitiora) 18 v. Allely 16. Third round: Elliott 21 v. Dollar 20. Summary: Elliott, 2 wins, no losses. Section B, first round: Horscroft and Taplin (Auckland) 20 v. Blunt and Davis (Whitiora) 19. Second round: Higginbotham 29 v. Davis 14. Third round: Pearce 22 v. Davis 18. Summary: Davis, three losses. Section C, first round: House and Downs (Whitiora) 16 v. Commins and Flanders 14. Second round: Downes 20 v. Pole 11. Third round: Lundon. 21 v. Downes 20. Summary, Downes, two wins, one loss. Section D, first round, Choat and Rowe (Whitiora) 26 v. Else and Paston (Putaruru) 9; Pewnian and Sherd (Hunlly) 26. Sunde and Firth (Glen Eden) 18. Second round: Rowe 27 v Langford 9; Sherd 20 v. Corfe 13; Till 12 v. Paxton 14. Tail’d round: Slmm 28 v. Sherd 27; Rowe 27 v. Eshelby 13. Summary: Rowe, three wins, Sherd, two wins, one loss; Paxton, two losses.
