WINTER SHOW
RECORD BACON ENTRIES SUPERINTENDENTS APPOINTED FEATURES FOR EXHIBITION The statement that there would be 213 entries in the bacon section at the 1939 Waikato Winter Show, comprising 426 sides of bacon, was made by Mr W. H. Paul, secretary of the show association, at a meeting of the association executive to-day. it was pleasing to see such keen interest taken in the classes, said the speaker, and the display would be the largest of its kind in the world. There would also be six district courts of young farmers’ clubs. The meeting was presided over by the president, Mr F. Bullock.
Departmental superintendents for the show, which will be held from May 30 to June 6, were appointed as follows: Dairy Division. —Butter: Mr A. K. Alexander. Cheese: Mr W. E. Clark. Agriculture: Messrs J. Ballard and A. M. Wilson. Horticulture and fruil: Messrs G. Clcvely and R. D. Pick. Apiculture: Messrs A. H. Davies and A. L. Pearson. Ladies’ needlework: Mesdames 11. Douglas, 11. J. Grecn-siad-i and $. Bennett and Mr F. J. P. Currie. Home industries: Mrs A. J. Davison and Messrs A. J. Davison and W. Roth well. Photography: Mrs H. D. Cobb and Messrs H. D. Cobb and u. A. Butt. Art: Mr J. Trcloar. Schools: Messrs W. Fraser, F. W. Parr, A. S. Cliffe and L. Mark. Sunday

On account of his impending departure from New Zealand for a tour anread Mr R. Kay tendered his resignation from the association. On the motion of Mr Bullock the resignation of Mr Kay was accepted and it was decided to thank him for the assistance he had given the association over a number of years. The resignations of Mr and Mrs H. G. Coombs as superintendents of the aid, section at the show were also received with regret and a vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs Coombs for their splendid work in connection with the section was passed.
