TOP PRICE 40 GUINEAS OFFERING AT CLAUD ELANDS Good prices for the better quality stud Southdown rams were paid when the offering in this class came before buyers at the annual Hamilton Ram Fair, which was continued at the Claudelands selling pavilion to-day. Top price for stud sheep was 40 guineas paid for a one-shear ram offered on account of Mr J. R. Self, of Papatoetoe and purchased by Mr W. G. Macky.

Mr* Self’s offering comprised very attractive rams and all attracted the eyes of the buyers. For one of the pen, Mr H. Rotherv.paid £37 16s and the other was sold to Mr J. H. Gore for £27 6s.

The Ruakura Farm of Instruction purchased a good sort consigned by Mr B. 11. Slack of Manukau, paying £35 14s for the ram. Mr W. E. Weightman paid £2B 7s for a stud ram offered on behalf of Mr L. A. Kay, of Te Awamutu. Another offering on behalf of Mr Slack was purchased by Southee Bros, for £24 3s. while a ram from the same vendor sold to Mr Weight-man for 15 guineas. The same price was paid by Mr J. Nicholson for a rain bred by Mr C. Charlton, of Pukeroro. Other Pens One ram from Mr P. Bremner, of Tamahere was purchased for J 4 guineas by Mr A. Bethal while Mr F. E. Day paid 18 guineas for Mr C. J. Hawken’s offering. Another offered by Mr Slack made £2l in being knocked down to Mr Weightman. The same buyer paid 15 guineas for a ram bred by Mr L. A. Kay, of Te Awamutu. A further offering of flock South - down rams was made to-day when prices were erratic and in some cases a considerable drop on values obtained yesterday was noticed. Over the early sales bidders were not enticed to go further than 6] guineas, while the average prices were between 4 guinea** and 5 guineas with some falling t I about 3 guineas. Competition was fairly restricted over these sales.
