DISQUALIFICATION OF TAREE THE FINAL PLACINGS (Special to Timet) AUCKLAND, Monday The world’s 18-footer sailing championship has been won by the Auckland yacht Manu as the result of the disqualification of the Sydney yacht Taree by the officials last evening. Taree was holder of the championship and won the third and final race of the series on Saturday afternoon. The following statement waa made by the Appeals Committee last night: "An anneal by the Jeanette against her disqualification in the second race was dismissed. A protest by the Jeanette against the St. George in the second race waa dismissed. A protest by the Irina against the Taree in the second race was dismissed. The Shamrock was disqualified for being over the line at the start of the third race. The Malvina was disqualified by the umpires for hitting a mark in the third race. A protest against the Taree by the Limerick for a breach of the port and starboard tack rule in the third race was sustained. Taree was disqualified. The Manoa was commended for withdrawing afier committing a breach of the rules in the third race.” Total Points Awarded Adjustment of the placings and points as the result of the various disqualifications gives the total points for the series of three races as follows:-—*

The Manu won the first race, and finished seventh in the second race and third In the last race. Disqualifications gave her fifth place In the second race and second place in the ihird race. The Taree finished fourth in the first race, third in the second race, and first in the third race, but war. disqualified.

The Jeanette finished second in the first race, first in the second race, but was disqualified, and second in the bird race.

In the final race Taree took the lead early and was never headed, finishing lm 52s in front of Jeanette (Ponsonby Cruising Club), which beat Manu Richmond Cruising Club for second place by im 15s. Malvina v Sydney) finished fourth, but was disqualified and her place was taken by her teammate, St. George.
