Singing Duo
Roland Young and Billie Burke join voices in & duet in a scene of David 0. Selznick’s production “The Young In Heart.” The two film players went into their song with other members of the cast, which stars Janet Gaynor, Douglas Fairbanks, junr., and Paulette Goddard applauding on the side-lines. Richard Wallace, directing the picture, yielded the song-tutoring job to Lou Forbes, Selznick International musical director. The song is a light little ditty taken from the old English music hall days, titled ‘Algy, the Piccadilly Johnny!’ The music is the original’, but new words were supplied by Selznick. “The Young In Heart” is a comedy-romance, not a musical. Young and Miss Burke are called upon to sing their song in the cold, gray dawn of a railroad station scene, when family spirits are at their lowest.
