POPE’S DEATH

“A STALWART FOR PEACE” BOROUGH COUNCIL’S SYMPATHY On the motion of the Mayor, Mr H. D. Caro, it was decided at last evening’s meeting of the Borough Council to convey to Father M. J. Bleakley, as the head of the Catholic Church in Hamilton, the council’s sincere sympathy and condolence on the death of the Pope. "The world has lost one of Its greatest stalwarts in the efforts to obtain peace, and it could ill afford to lose such a personality,” said Mr Caro.

The members of the council stood in silence as a mark, of sympathy and respect.
