APPROVAL OF LOAN

HOSPITAL PROPOSAL BOROUGH COOTVCfL'S AOTIOVT AUCKLAND CHAIRMAN REBUKED Approval for the Waikato Hoopftal Board's proposal to raise a loan of £12,000 for alterations and additions to the hospital buildings at Hamilton. Rotorua and Matamata was sought by the board in a letter received at a meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council last evening. The Mayor, Mr H. D. Caro, presided. Approval for the proposal was given on the motion of the Mayor, and the appreciation of the board for the unanimity with which the expenditure had been approved was voiced by Mr F. Findlay, the deputy-mayor and chairman of the Hospital Board.

“In this connection, I would also like to reply to Mr. A. Moody, chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board, who recently criticised the Auckland City

uncil ami other local authorities when he said at the recent hospital boards’ conference at New Plymouth that they should use their brains, if any,’ ” said Mr Findlay. ‘ That remark was cheap and was unworthy of Mr Moody, particularly m view of the position he holds.”
