YACHT CLUB FORMED
HAMILTON INNOVATION MEETING ON MARCH '4 A Hamilton Yacht Club was formed in Hamilton last evening and it was tentatively arranged that a sailing meeting be held on the Hamilton Lake on Saturday March 4. There were nine members at the meeting-, all with boats, and Mr H. Hill, who is also a member of the Royal Akarana Yacht Club, is attempting to arrange for three lift. 6in. boats from Auckland to compete. The following officers were elected: Patron, Dr. G. \Y. Gower; commodore, Mr H. Martin: vice-commodorc, Mr D. Colebrook; rear-commodore, Mr J. Dawson; secretary. Mr H. J. Owen; committee, Messrs H. Hill, C. Shakeshaft and T. Neil. Mr Hill intimated that he would donate a cup and miniatures and it was decided to compete for the cup over the season on a points basis. Several other offers of trophies were received and it was anticipated that the fostering of the sport would see an increase in the number of boats on the lake.
