CAMBRIDGE ROADS
BOROUGH REQUEST REFUSED As a county council is not empowered to spend money pn borough streets, the Waikato County Council to-day declined a request from the Cambridge Borough Council to share maintenance expenses on four streets in Cambridge. The Cambridge Council stated that four roads from the county, Thornton Road. Robison Street. Bowen Street and Vogel Street in Cambridge passed through the non-rat«*able domain belt which practically surrounded the borough to a depth of ten chains. At present the borough maintained the streets but. in view of the county interest in the Cambridge Domain and its benefits to the distriet. the borough council suggested that Hie county council should take over the maintenance of the four roads and charge the upkeep of two to the Borough Council.
