CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA RECORD ENTRIES RECEIVED PICTON HARBOUR EVENTS (By Telegraph.—Press Association) BLENHEIM, Saturday The New Zealand rowing championship regatta opened on Picton Harbour to-day in glorious weather. Record entries were received for the fixture and the foreshore was thronged by a large crowd. A gusty, westerly wind is whipping the water into a trtekly jobble. A large number of excursionists arrived from Wellington on the Rangatira during the morning. The champion fours was postponed until this afternoon, when calmer water is hoped for. Results:— ” ' Maiden Fours: Picton 1. Union (Wanganui) 2, Star 3. There were six other starters. Auckland scratched. Won by four lengths, with 1$ lengths between second and third. Maiden Fours Open: Walrau, 1; Canterbury. 2; Kawatirl, 3. There werU nine other starters. Won by four lengths with a similar distance between second and third.
