Friday The discovery was made yesterday afternoon in a Public Works Department camp tent at Pairere, seven miles from Putaruru, of the body of Edgar David Hamilton McEwan (about 39) of Seaview Terrace Mount Albert. Auckland. The body was mutilated about the back and stomach and was lying in a bunk, the centre of which had collapsed from the force of an explosion. Deceased was employed by the Public Works Department as storeman and timekeeper. At an inquest opened at Putaruru yesterday before Mr M. St. J. Pavton, Coroner. Roy R. Penlington, engineer, stated that McEwan left the camp on Friday night and had not returned to work on Monday and Tuesday.
