BOWLING

HAMILTON EAST CLUB A SUCCESSFUL SEASON There was an attendance of 40 members at the annual meeting of the Hamilton East Bowling Club, which was held in the pavilion last evening, Mr W.* Wilson presiding. Mr Wilson reviewed the progress of the past season, indicating the success of the club members in tournaments and competitions. Several successful tournaments had been held on the club’s greens during the year and these had done much to foster the club spirit among members The report and balance-sheet were adopte.d, the financial statement showing a reserve account of £6O and a credit balance at the bank of £3l 8s sd. Mr L. Robertson’s resignation from the position of secretary was accepted wit'h regret and a tribute was paid to his services.

Election of Officers The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mr L. D. Nathan; president, Mr W. L. Wilson; vice-presidents, Messrs L. Ashworth and J. Fox; secretary and treasurer, Mr 0. Dean; auditor, Mr L. Symes; general committee, Messrs H. Lomas, B. O’Neill, N. Hamilton and E. Blincoe; delegates to South Auckland Bowling Centre, Messrs W. Perry arid J. Carter; coach, Mr R. Handley. The trophies won during the season were presented as follows: Championship singles. E. Coe; first year singles, G. Broadman; runner-up, L. Ramsay; Cameron rinks trophy, H. Lomas, N. White, M. Butler and H. Lee; Bomberg rinks trophy, j. Hynes, G. Wells. G. Bremner and R. Cox; Russell rinks trophy, J. Fox, N. White, J. Tristram, H. Lee. At the conclusion of the meeting, club members and friends held a social evening to farewell Mr Robertson, club secretary, who is shortly leaving for Nelson. * Eulogistic references to Mr Robertson's services were made by several speakers and he was later presented with a wallet by Mr Wilson on behalf of the club.
