Wednesday In regard to a gazetted notice subjecting the manufacture of storage ! batteries to the licensing provisions of | of the Industrial Efficiency Act, Hon. j D. G. Sullivan. Minister of Trades and ! Commerce, said to-day the licensing | is provisional and conditional on the industry preparing an industrial plan, having for its objects such factors as ! the protection of the public as to | price, quality and service; safeguardj ing of the interests of the workers j engaged in the industry as regards J working conditions, the possibility of I increasing the New Zealand content of ; wet batteries; and the development of } the industry generally. ! The Bureau of Industry will collaborate with the industry‘in preparation of the plan.
