GIFT EVENINGS

NGARUA BRIDE-TO-BE j The Ngarua Hall was filled recently ! when Miss E. Donovan was the guest-of-honour at a gift evening organised by the residents. The evening was spent with dancing, interspersed with items. Music for the occasion was provided by Messrs J. Knyvett and M. i Donovan. Mr F. Greenville, chairman of the | evening, asked Miss Donovan to accept the many gift parcels as a token of esteem. Musical honours were then accorded and Mr C. E- Davies suitably responded on behalf of his fiancee. A novelty dance was won by Mr and Mrs L. Donovan. Among those present were: —Mesdames C. Morrison, A. Williams, M. Millar, D. Lewis, E. McNab. PRESENTATION AT TATUANUI The Tatuanui Hall was the scene recently of a social evening arranged by the residents and sports clubs of the district in honour of Mr R. Shirley and Mr F. Sing, whose marriages will’ take place shortly. On behalf of those present the chairman, Mr A. L. Wratt, extended good wishes to the guests who have been associated with the Tennis Club and other social activities of the district-

Presentations of a silver cakestand were made to each as tokens of esteem. Mr Shirley and Mr Sing suitably responded.
