PERSONAL
The Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Public Works, addressed a public meeting at Pukekohe on Tuesday evening on the lines of his re'cent address at Morrinsville. About 700 people were present and many were unable to gain admittance. A resolution was passed thanking Mr Semple for his address and expressing confidence In him as the Minister of Public Works.
Mr A. S. Sutherland has been reelected a director of the Farmers’ Trading Company, Auckland.
Sir Francis Frazer, of Wellington, chairman of the Executive Commission of Agriculture, is visiting Hamilton.
Messrs F. Williams, E. Williams (Napier), G. W. Perrett (Wanganui), H. P. Ibbotsen and B. Evans (Auckland), are at the Hamilton Hotel.
Squadron-Leader D. H. F. Barnett, a New Zealander serving in Iraq, has been appointed to the command of No. 84 Bomber Squadron at Shaibah, says a message from London.
Messrs F. Best, A. M. Bisley, W. Bourne and W. A. Curteis, members of the previous Hamilton Borough Council,, were thanked for their services and tributes were paid to their work by the retiring Mayor, Mr j. R. Fow, and by the Mayor, Mr H. D. Caro, at the inaugural meeting of the new Council last evening.
