SUMMER BRIDGE FIX'AL AFTEHXOOX' The final bridge afternoon of the X'garuawahia Summer Bridge Club was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall recently. The winner and runner-up for the season were Mrs C. E. Moir and Mrs R. M. McFarlane, while Miss E. Gerrard and'Mrs W. McGruer were the highest scorers for the afternoon. The hostesses were Mesdames W. G. Adams, R. B. McLaren and D. R. Welch. During the afternoon Mrs D- R. Welch, as president of the N’garuawahia Plunket Society, accepted a cheque for lilt from the members of Hie bridge club as a donation towards the Plunket building fund. Miss E. Saulbrey presented Mrs Welch with a beautiful bouquet. Those present were: —Mesdames D. R. Welch, F. Dudson (Wellington), W. G. Adams, R. Eyre, R. B. McLaren, G. B. Isdale, C. E. Wilson, W. McGruer, R. McFarlane, A. Potter, 11. Dell, E- W. Jacobs, W. Cavanagh, J. Cavanagh, W. M. Paterson, Misses E. Saulbrey, I. and E. Gerrard.
GOLF CLUB OPENING Beautiful weather ’attended the opening of the X'garuawahia Golf Club on Saturday. There was a large attendance, visitors being present from Huntly, Orinl and Renown Clubs. Mr 11. W. Wilson, in declaring the links open, wished the members a successful season, and Mr W. McGruer, club captain, drove the first ball. Mixed foursomes were played, Mr Eugene Pharo and Mrs L. Dwen returning the best card of 37 nett. Those present were : —Mesdames K. M. Wright, H. B. Fraser, H- J. Sampson, A. Cameron, L. Dwen, D. Biddiok, M. Sanders, A. J. Garry; Misses M. Todd, E. Ensor, M. White.
