GIFT PARTIES

IN HONOUR OF MISS M. TYRRELL A jolly gift party was given by Mrs E. Newton-Wheeler at her home in Okoroire recently for Miss Mavis Tyrrell, whose marriage will take place shortly. A pleasant afternoon was spent, the guests bringing linen gifts. The rooms were charmingly decorated with bowls of autumn-shaded flowers. Competitions, clock golf, and other games were enjoytd, after which a delicious afternoon tea was served. Mrs Newton-Wheeler received her guests wearing a black blister cloque frock. The guest-of-honour was wearing saxe blue romaine, and Mrs Tyrrell wore a black tailored suit. Those present were:—Mesdames T. Macken, 11. Crawford, Deadman, C. Tyrrell. J. Brown, N. L. H. Main, H- Selby (Tirau), Tyrrell, J. McLaren, Gordon Brown, T. Bottomlev (Palmerston North), L. Hancock. Misses June Wheeler, R. Wheeler, Peggy Newton-Wheeler, D. Pickering, Jean Carruth, Edna Tyrrell, June McLaren, Madge Carruth. Pantry Afternoon Mrs Gordon Brown was hostess at an enjoyable pantry afternoon given at the home of Mrs J. Brown, Okoroire, In honour of Miss Mavis Tyrrell. The rooms looked most attractive with autumn-shaded marigolds, and a jolly afternoon was spent. Mrs G. Brown was wearing a brown and beige frock. Miss Tyrrell wore aqua blue, and Mrs Tyrrell's suit was of black matalasse.
