NEGOTIATIONS IN NEW YORK MR SMITH LEAVES FOR LONDON (United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright) NEW YORK, May 11 Mr Charles Smith, a Sydney stockbroker, has sailed for London, following extensive negotiations for the resale of gold mines to American interests. He declined to discuss the matter, but it is learned he had various discussions with banking groups, one of which is reported to be the Kidder-Peabody Company. The J. P. Morgan Company also was mentioned as one of the groups, which might be interested, although it is not believed they were consulted.
