Copyright LONDON, May 11 Addressing a meeting of the Cardiff branch of the Overesas League, Sir H. P. Colebatch, Agent-Geenral for Western Australia, expressed the opinion that present-day Britons are incapable of founding a new empireHe drew a comparison between the British who settled in Australia and found life too hard, and gains too few, with the Southern Europeans who were entering the country without official encouragement, and who made good by hard work. H.\ hearers sat in silence as Sir H. P. Colebatch made sport of Britain’s so-called liberty saying: "What is wanted in this country is a ten-year plan, aimed at the upbuilding of the people's mental, moral, and physical standard.” He was an advocate of compulsory military training, and added that Australia wanted 98 per cent, of British population but, they must be British of the right sort.
