Brisk Polling In Afternoon After the mid-day rush when many shop assistants exercised their franchise, a steady stream of electors, the majority of whom were women, attended the various booths in the town throughout the afternoon. Everywhere there was evidence of greater interest In the elections and record figures appeared to be In the making. At the Drill Hall about 1100 votes had been cast up to 3 p.m. This was considerably more than up to the same time In the 1935 elections. Brisk voting was experienced at Liberty Hall, In Rostrevor Street, and there over 400 votes were recorded by 3 p.m. At the Masonic Hall at Claudelands over 500 vetes had been cast at 3 p.m., while 250 electors had recorded votes at Pearson’s Hall. Hamilton East. No figures were available at 3 p.m. from Frankton. but It was understood that there, like at other booths, the polling was heavy. There are 10,315 citizens on the electoral rolls. LACK OF INTEREBT VOTING AT MORRINSVILLE (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) MORRINSVILLE, Wednesday. With no contest for the Morrinsville Mayoralty this year, and with only seven candidates seeking election for the six seals on the Morrinsville Borough Council, there was a lack of interest in the polling here to-day. Up to 1 p.m. only 100 of the 1100 on the roll had voted.
