THE WOOL MARKET

PROSPECTS FOR THE SEABON DEMAND FOR MERINOS Unlied Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright LONDON, May 7 It is difficult to estimate the probable demand at tiie coming London wool sales. The home trade is not in urgent need of raw material, and the French demand is problematical, as buyers may decide to postpone purchases until the franc shows some recovery. Wool may be dear at the present exchange rate. It would not be surprising to see a fair German demand. Russia, which bought well at the last series and helped so much to steady prices, probably is fairly well covered. The market would not be surprised if she did not operate at this series. Most traders consider that Merinos will open slightly higher, and that crossbreds should he at least up to tlie levels of the last sales, and many even be rather better.
