WEDDING
PHILLIPB—BATES The wedding was solemnised on May 5 j n St. Peter's Church, Raglan, between Eliza Hazel fifth daughter of Mr and Mrs D- Bates, Te Uku, and Lawrence Henry, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. Phillips, of Te Mata. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Oxenbridge, and Mrs Grayling presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church with her father, looked charming in a frock of Ivory satin with»a diamante clip at the neckline. Her veil was of tulle and net held in place with a coronet of orange blossoms and she carried a bouquet of white cactus dahlias, nerines and maidenhair fern. Miss Dorothy Bates, sister of the bride, and Miss Pat Phillips, sister of the bridegroom, attended as bridesmaids. Miss Bates" frock was of blue georgette, and she wore a blue crinoline hat and carried a bouquet of pink cactus dahlias and nerines, with blue anchusa and maidenhair fern. Miss Phillips' frock of pink georsrctle was worn with a hat ot crinoline and she carried a bouquet of pink cactus dahlias, nerines and maidenhair fern. Mr W. Phillips was best man, and Mr M. Phillips was groomsman. Mrs Bates, the bride's mother, wore a black marocain frock with floral relief and a black hat. Her bouquet was composed of pink nerines. The bridegroom’9 mother, Mrs J. Phillips, wore navy marocain with a navy hat, and carried a bouquet in autumn tonings. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Dixieland Cabaret. Mr and Mrs L. Phillips left later by car for Rotorua and Tauranga, the bride travelling in a black costume and hat with toning accessories. They will make their home In Raglan. Phillips. M. Phillips, T. Phillips, R. Bates. N- Bregman and W. Barlow. FENTON—LEWER The wedding was solemnised at. St Andrew’s Church, Te Kultl, on Saturday. April 30. the officiating clergyman being the Rev. W. T. Brabyn, when Ferol Gracia F.llzabeth, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs F.. Lewer. of Te Kultl. was married to Gordon Robert, elder son of Mr and Mrs R. Fenton, also of Te Kultl. The bride entered the chureh with her father. She looked charming in a gown of ivory satin morltz trimmed with silk net, cut on classical lines to form a train. Her ivory embroidered tulle veil fell from a coronet of orange blossom to form a second train, and she carried a bouquet of white orchids, chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Miss June Lewer. sister of the bride, was the only bridesmaid. She was gowned In apple green taffeta made in Victorian style. On her hair she wore a green floral crown with strappings to tone and she carried a bouquet ot spider lilies, white chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Mr Geoffrey Fenton, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Messrs R. McLeod and C. Adams were the ushers A largely-attended reception *vas held at the Tourist Rooms. Mrs Lewer received the guests wearing a black satin rapon ensemble with white hat and accessories to tone. Her posy comprised golden-tinted chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. " The mother of wore a twopiece Mack crepe-de-chine ensemble, printed in nasturtium colourings and a black peachbloom hat. Her posy was of golden chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. After the reception the . guests adjourned to the residence of Mr and Mrs Lewer, where the wedding gifts were viewed. Later in the evening Mr and Mrs G. R. Fenton left by car on a motoring tour of the Northland and the Hot Lakes districts. The bride travelled in a navy blue tailored costume with furs and accessories to tone. After the departure over 100 guests assembled in the Parish Hall, where a pleasant evening was spent in dancing, to the strains of Blacks’ Orchestra, musical items being interspersed with the dancing programme. Mr and Mrs Fenton will make their home In Te Kultl.
