PARAWERA MEETING

TE RO-OPU AWHINA O TUPA The monthly meeting of the Te Ro-opu Awhina 0 Tjpa (women's gathering in aid of Tupa) was held in the Parawera Native Hall recently. Mrs Umu McLean presided over a good attendance. The meeting opened with a hymn, followed by a praver by Sister Clegg. The president tlien made reference to the death of Mr Arthur Bryant, whose wife is a member of the organisation. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to Mrs Bryant. _ Sister Clegg gave a Bible reading. Nurse Maungakahia then gave an interesting talk, and a cure for dvsentry. Good business was done at the sales table, which was in the capable hands of Miss Kathleen Takirau. Votes 'of thanks were accorded Sister Clegg and Nurse Maungakahia.
